BLM Technologies Helps Union Bank Debut New Pertech Printers
-- Faster, seamless interface lauded by tellers --
MINNEAPOLIS, March 28, 2006 — BLM Technologies, Inc., a single source provider of technology consulting and branch automation solutions and services for the retail banking industry, was recently asked to evaluate the needs of Union Bank, Oklahoma City, OK. As a result, Union Bank switched its teller transaction printing equipment to the Pertech 5351 system.
Union Bank wanted to replace its old printers, but some of the printers they evaluated had compatibility problems with the bank's current teller system. The bank asked BLM Technologies to research the problem and find a printer that would easily integrate with their system.
"When we upgraded our teller software, our old teller transaction printing equipment couldn't keep up with the workload so we needed to get new printers," said Derek Turner, IT services, Union Bank. "BLM had been servicing our old printers and they offered us some options on alternative systems."
"The Pertech printer was able to emulate an interface that was the same as the emulation they are using now," said Ron Meinhardt, president of BLM Technologies. "The results were positive and the printer was accepted as a valid replacement for their old printers."
"We received positive feedback from the tellers, because it prints more rapidly. It's seamless and it works ‘at the speed of you'," said Turner. "The tellers can also balance their cash drawers much faster."
Riverton, Wyo.-based Pertech Resources, Inc. is a niche product manufacturer of impact and direct thermal and inkjet printers used in the banking market. The Pertech 5351 is a new generation of printer not installed in any other bank anywhere. The 5300 Series teller transaction printers complement their existing product line, the 4700, which has more than 200,000 installations in its 12 years on the market. The 5300 Series incorporates valuable features, such as a small footprint, standard USB and serial connectivity, fully automatic paper loading and a two-year warranty. It also has the lowest total cost of ownership of any transaction printer in its class. "We are glad we could provide a solution to a pressing problem for Union Bank," said Meinhardt. "We are always seeking ways to offer effective answers for our customers through key relationships with the best in class of retail banking equipment providers."
